Introducing HULATAM's Micro Credential - Fundamentals of Data Analytics

The goal of this course is to provide an understanding and foundation of the role of Analytics in today's organizational environment. The course introduces approaches to performing analytics. The student will be exposed to formal methods and functional programming techniques.

In this foundational micro-credential, student learning will be focused in three areas:

1) Programmatic data manipulation: Students will be introduced to the R programming language and the integrated development environment RStudio. They will learn how RStudio enhances their ability to use R and how to work in the program. The information covers the basics of programming including object types, variable types, functions, and importing data.

2) Introductory statistical analysis: This section covers the essentials of descriptive statistics including measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) and measures of variability (standard deviation, standard error). An introduction to research methodology and statistical hypothesis testing is also included.

3) Introductory data visualization: Data visualization with ggplot2 is covered including bar graphs, histograms, scatterplots, and line graphs. This section covers how to improve the basic graphing functions to make production ready quality visualizations.
